2022 - 24e Festival d'automne

Louis Armstrong aurait dit : « To jazz, or not to jazz, there is no question », je vous souhaite donc de venir nombreux pour profiter d’une excellente édition 2022 !

Virginie Darpheuille, Préfète de la Creuse

« Comme un vent de liberté ! »

2021 - 23rd Autumn Festival

This year, we are celebrating together the return of a complete program of the Jazz à la Sout festival, largely disrupted last year by the health crisis. With more than 15 concerts in different tones, the festival will once again be an opportunity to discover the incredible musical diversity offered by jazz.

This high-quality program is also, if one were needed, proof of the extraordinary energy and great resilience of Musique(s) en Marche, and more broadly of the Creuse associative fabric. In the context we know, this associative vitality constitutes a bulwark against the erosion of the social bond and allows the maintenance of a cultural life whose dynamism does not run out of steam.

The State remains and will remain an unfailing partner in this
event, and I would like to thank here all those who make it live.

I wish you an excellent 2021 edition!

Virginie Darpheuille, Prefect of Creuse

"Take Jazz Seriously!" »

This is what Maurice Ravel, one of the universal figures of New Aquitaine, the composer of the famous Boléro, the most played French work in the world, the hymn offered to humanity, chanted.

It is an understatement to say that Thierry Bourguignon and his team have "seriously" praised Jazz for 23 years at La Souterraine in the Creusois region.

With "Jazz à La Sout" Jazz is never quiet, it is combined in the plural like a free music that refuses the shackles of a format, a cliché... It escapes, breaks the codes and offers itself a permanent revival in its short history, a hundred years in the end is nothing in music.

With "Jazz à La Sout" Jazz is emotion, music of the body and dance, spiritual music where improvisation is collective, both turned to the depths of oneself, while remaining attentive to the other. .

With "Jazz à La Sout", Jazz also becomes intimate music, music that heals the soul, and in this unique time of a pandemic we need more than anything social ties, the aspiration to be together. to hear the "word" of the artists.

Passion and tenacity are therefore needed to successfully organize a festival in such a context, but you could count on the unfailing support of the Nouvelle-Aquitaine Region. So no resignation or fatalism, meet on October 8 to show that culture resists and is still an exception!

Alain Rousset, President of the New Aquitaine Region

It is an unmissable event that music lovers await with the greatest anticipation.

Every fall, a wind of jazz blows through our department, bringing with it positive notes in a particular context.

For this 23rd edition of the Jazz à La Sout festival, the organizers have once again been able to put the small dishes in the big ones. A beautiful program again, to transport us on a journey with multiple sounds. Groups come from all over France, and even beyond, as far as Ukraine, to offer us sounds of clarinets, trombones, trumpets.

Our young prodigies, students at the Emile-Goué Departmental Conservatory will also not fail to put on a show, in front of an audience that is as attentive as it is passionate.

And as each show has its final bouquet, Le Quartet will offer us a last trip, an escapade in the Harlem of the 1930s, accompanied by the young and talented trombonist Edouard Wallyn, and swing dancers from Compagnie La Riflette.

We owe this major and renowned musical event to the relentlessness and professionalism of the Musique(s) en Marche association, its president and its volunteers, who bring this festival to life and jazz up the Creuse. ! This is why the Department is proud to be a partner.

I wish you all great moments of sharing, joy and conviviality.

Valérie Simonet, President of the Departmental Council of La Creuse

What a pleasure to meet you again for this 23rd Festival after a somewhat disrupted special edition last year. The Festival team remains more than ever mobilized to make this fall musical event a highlight, both artistically and humanely.

Like every year, you will discover very talented musicians, some of whom are renowned far beyond our borders and who know how, with great humanity, to share their passion for jazz music with the public.

There are more than 75 artists who you can come and listen to, see, appreciate, applaud in 11 municipalities of our department, from La Souterraine to Mérinchal via Boussac or even Guéret, Auzances...

For this 23rd edition we wanted, in partnership with the Micro Folie de La Souterraine and the Fédération Echanges France Ukraine, to present a novelty to you with the broadcast on the big screen of a concert, from Ukraine and live, of the training “Dixie. Dp.Ua”.

As in previous years, jazz and cinema lovers will not be left out, with the screening at La Souterraine of Bertrand Tavernier's film "Around Midnight", which evokes in a romantic way the life of saxophonist Lester Young and pianist Bud Powell and Guéret, that of the biopic “Respect”, which retraces the remarkable journey of the “soul diva” Aretha Franklin.

Also, this festival would not have fully regained its dimension without its exhibition of photographs "an air of jazz - act 7", produced in partnership with our friends from Creusographie and Photolim87, which we encourage you to go and admire at Espace Fayolle de Guéret, throughout the Festival period.

The entire Jazz à La Sout' team will be infinitely happy to welcome many of you to these various meetings for moments of emotion, sharing, conviviality, in a word of happiness.

Finally, a big thank you to all of our partners for continuing to trust us and supporting this event which shows, like many other events, that the associative world in its diversity remains a real wealth for our beautiful department. .

Looking forward to seeing you again and keep swingin'!

2020 - Waiting for the 23rd Festival ...

A Festival in the wind

A must for music lovers, from the most loyal to the curious, the Jazz à la Sout festival continues on its way, according to the wind, the theme of this 22nd edition.

This year, a great program to transport us on a journey with multiple sounds. A roaming in the heart of the Roaring Twenties, in the great American tradition of the blues, to the sound of clarinets, trombones and trumpets, in the footsteps of Django Reinhardt, in a light, lively, sparkling jazz.

A musical nomadism, to the tunes of New York and New Orleans, which breathes the rebellious spirit of jazz: from La Souterraine to Evaux-Les-Bains, from Mérinchal to Saint-Vaury, from Bourganeuf to Boussac.

From the first notes started, spectators invited to dance can then let their bodies sketch a few steps of lindy hop, charleston or jitterbug, and why not, give voice to the revisited songs of Starmania.

This major and renowned musical event, we owe it to the determination and professionalism of the Musique (s) en Marche association, its president and its forty volunteers, who bring this festival to life and jazz up the Creuse!

Thank you to them and good festival to all!

Valérie Simonet, President of the Department of Creuse
